Founded in 1450, the Universitat de Barcelona ranks within the top public Universities in Spain, in terms of both the quality of the teaching it offers and the productivity and quality of the research carried out by its members. UB has 59 departments, 16 faculties and more than 5,000 full-time researchers, technicians and research assistants. UB has participated in European research programmes since the 4th Framework Programme, and has been granted a large amount of European projects, and hosted an important number of Marie Curie fellowships and MSCA training networks.
Since January 2010, UB has been part of the prestigious League of European Universities Research (LERU), a network of elite research-intensive universities across Europe which was founded in 2002 with the aim of high-quality teaching and highly competitive international research.
